Procrastinator’s Guide to Father’s Day Gifts 2022

I will start with my own admission that I’m creating this procrastinator’s guide to Father’s Day gifts, because this year I admittedly dropped the ball. I figured I’m not the only one out there who feels like Father’s Day crept up on us when we weren’t paying attention. I’d like to say that I forgot Father’s Day was in June, but since it’s always in the same week as my birthday, I should have known better than to put off my shopping this year.

Do not panic! (I’m actually speaking to myself, as much as I am to you, the reader.) Father’s Day is less than a week away, but there is still time to order Amazon Prime items and have them delivered before Sunday

I have compiled a few great lists for the dad in your life, whether he’s an outdoorsman, a home DIY enthusiast or a foodie.

On the date I am writing this post (June 13, 2022), all of the items listed below show that they will be delivered by Saturday, June 18, and the prices are accurate. Although I am an Affiliate of Amazon, I do not work for the company, so I cannot guarantee availability, price or shipping date.

Disclosure: I only recommend products I would use myself, and all opinions expressed here are my own. As an Amazon Associate, I may earn from qualifying purchases. This post may contain other affiliate links that, at no additional cost to you, I may earn a small commission from. Read full privacy policy here.

I hope these suggestions are helpful to you! I think Father’s Day gifts are great, but I think so many dads just want to be recognized and appreciated, and Father’s Day is our big opportunity to give them that. Dads are so important to their kids for many reasons, but I know that for boys, they need their dad to be an example of a man who is good to their wife and mom, a man who they can come to for advice and love and a man who will teach their boys morals and values, and who loves unconditionally. For girls, their dad is the man in their life who helps instill self-esteem, who shows them how they should expect other men to treat them and who loves unconditionally.

Obviously, there are so many more things that dads are responsible for, but the point is, if you have a husband and/or father who may have hung the sun and the moon for you, take the opportunity to let them know you appreciate them.

On a personal note, my own dad passed away six years ago, and that definitely left a hole in my heart. However, he was an incredible dad and grandpa, and we have millions of great memories and stories about him, and talking about him with our kids keeps him in our lives now and forever.

Speaking of great dads, my husband checks all the boxes. He has taught our boys so many valuable lessons, and most importantly, he is there to just listen to them and help them work through any problems they run into. They have seen him treat his wife (me!) with love and respect, and when I watch my newlywed son with his wife, I know that my husband has set an example that our boys have learned to emulate and will take into their future families.

Okay, so now that I’m done gushing about my dad and husband, I do want to leave you with a few fun Father’s Day ideas that don’t involve presents.

1.      Pack a picnic and have a fun lunch and play at a park or go on a nature hike.

2.     Have a backyard movie night, complete with blankets on the grass, popcorn and candy. Whether you have a projector or you just take the laptop outside and watch from that, it will be something fun and different that you can all do together.

3.     Play some yard games together (cornhole, croquet, bocce ball, etc), and follow it up with ice cream or popsicles.

4.    Play video games together. It’s pretty common for the kids to generally be the ones with the controllers in their hands, but kids love when parents ask to learn some of their favorite video games and actually play with them.

5.     If dad is a beer drinker, have your own little “beer tasting”. Pick up a variety of a few different kinds of beer and create a flight of beer for him to try, and maybe have him try to guess what kind of beer each one is.

Those are just a few ideas of some fun activities you can do together, but for Father’s Day, maybe have everyone put down their phones and hang out with dad. Ask him what HE wants to do. A great dad is a special gift, and it’s great that we have a day that’s devoted to him.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by my website and reading my words. I hope you have a great Sunday celebrating the great dads in your life!

 Xoxo Teresa
